With all due respect to Prof. Butler, whom I admire deeply, wouldn’t the gay marriage rights she seems to be support of in her article be an attempt to ‘hetero-ize’ homosexuality, including it in state recognized forms of sexual-social-political-economic association? While restrictions on gay marriage impose serious limits on family visitation in hospitals, taxing, etc., from a ‘philosophical perspective’ shouldn’t we ‘Foucauldians’ rejoice at the resistances and/or dissident modes of life the state offers to us so willingly?
